OneForTheRide app for iPhone and iPad

One for the ride is an iPhone app that allows rail and bus commuters to send one another gifts (food and beverage) that can be redeemed at designated retail locations at major transit hubs. The user has the option of purchasing for oneself or sending one for the ride to a friend. The purchases are made by credit card (Stripe). The application sends an email with a QR code to the gift recipient. The code will also appear in the receipts section of the app if sending or buying for ones self. The app has two separate modules a user or purchasing module and a retailers module.

The final transaction takes place at the retail location where the purchaser or recipient of one for the ride will scan the QR code from their phone at the retail counter. The retail module is used at the retail counter to scan the phone; the retailer can see from there the balance due of the product (number amount: ie. (2) Coffees or (1) Cupcake). The retail module then clears the balance and code and the product is delivered.

The app is designed to bring great joy to commuters! Friends and neighbors can delight in sending each other drinks and treats. It is a good way for people to say thank you, repay a favor or say sorry for an oversight!
